SafeSEL aims to make practical support easier to access.
Last updated: July 16, 2026.
Our approach
SafeSEL is working toward a website that can be navigated by keyboard, read with assistive technology and understood without relying on colour alone. We aim for clear headings, descriptive links, readable contrast and meaningful alternative text for informative images.
Current features
- A skip link to the main content.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators.
- Responsive layouts for smaller screens.
- Semantic headings and labelled controls in core navigation and filters.
- Text alternatives for key editorial and product images where available.
Known limitations
Some older product images, linked Etsy pages and third-party tools may not meet the same accessibility standard. Printable resources vary in visual density and may not suit every reader or access need.
Using printables accessibly
Adults may reduce the amount completed at one time, read prompts aloud, accept spoken or drawn responses, enlarge pages or use the resource as a conversation guide. These adaptations should support access without turning the activity into a test.
Report a problem
If an accessibility barrier prevents you from using the website or understanding a resource listing, contact Sophia through the SafeSEL Etsy shop and include the page address and a short description of the problem.
